Team, we need to grab the low-hanging fruit before the window of opportunity
closes on this moving target.
We are going to hit the ground running, drill down into our north star, and
move the needle until the rubber meets the road.
At the end of the day, there is no I in team, and we must all row in the same
direction, or that ship has already sailed.

Thesis of failureA pile-up of dead metaphors, reanimated and set loose in the same sentences, where they collide. Each figure was once alive; stacked, they assemble into pictures no one could act on.

OccasionThe quarter was mediocre and the executive must generate urgency without admitting anything specific went wrong.
PersonaMotivational management; certainty of tone in inverse proportion to precision of content.

1The Autopsy

No single phrase here is a crime; every one of them was a serviceable metaphor once, and several still function alone in casual speech. The failure is combinatorial. Metaphor asks the listener to build a picture; this passage asks for six pictures at once, and none of them forms. What the fog is for: not one sentence names a product, a number, a decision, or a date. The mixture is not carelessness. It is camouflage.

2The Repair

Say the thing. "We have three easy wins available this quarter: renew the two lapsed accounts and ship the export feature. If we do that by October, we hit our number." One metaphor ("wins"), kept; everything else converted back into plain nouns a person could act on.
