1The Autopsy
Set this beside King and the diagnosis writes itself. The machinery is identical — anaphora, series, terminal climax. What is missing is risk: King's repetitions each raised the price of the dream (Georgia, Mississippi, his own children); these repetitions raise nothing, ask nothing, and could be delivered unchanged at any school in any decade. The forms of oratory are amplifiers. Amplify a conviction and you get a movement. Amplify nothing and you get this.
2The Repair
Keep the anaphora; give it cargo that escalates. "Today you owe your parents a phone call. Today you owe your rivals a handshake. And by this day next year, you owe one stranger a debt they cannot repay — go and incur it." The frame repeats; the price rises each time; the final position holds an instruction someone could actually disobey.
