Expressing uncertainty about what to say or how to proceed. The doubt may be sincere or staged to draw attention to a difficulty.

"To be, or not to be, that is the question" — deliberation as spectacle

Don't confuse it with Rhetorical Question. A rhetorical question presumes its answer; aporia performs not having one.

Examples

Should I tell her the truth? Should I remain silent? I cannot decide which would do less harm.
