Epithet
A descriptive word or phrase attached to a person or thing, such as “swift-footed Achilles.” Repetition can make that quality part of how the reader recognizes the character.
"rosy-fingered Dawn" — Homer
Don't confuse it with. A transferred epithet (hypallage) moves the adjective to the wrong noun: 'a sleepless night' — the night wasn't sleepless; you were.
Examples
They called her Mara the Unwavering.
The descriptive phrase is attached to Mara’s name as a recurring characterization.
